Frequently asked questions

Questions before your first call?

Practical answers about working with MuriPhys.

Where is MuriPhys based?

MuriPhys is U.S.-based in Durham, North Carolina, with no foreign ties.

Can MuriPhys participate in CDMRP and university research grants?

Yes. MuriPhys can participate as a research partner in CDMRP, university-led research grants and SBIR/STTR projects. We work with the lead applicant on our scientific scope, budget, facilities, supporting documents and research execution.

What does MuriPhys do?

MuriPhys is a preclinical contract research organization in Durham, North Carolina. We support study design, in vitro and tissue assays, mouse and rat in vivo and in-life studies, functional assessments and coordinated analysis.

Can MuriPhys help with an SBIR or STTR application?

We can help develop a scientific study scope, budget inputs, timelines, facility descriptions and vendor-support materials, and discuss how the proposed research can be executed.

Does MuriPhys work with university investigators?

Yes. We collaborate with university teams on studies and specialized procedures. Share a core quote and we will work hard to match pricing for comparable work, where feasible.

Which in vitro methods can I discuss with your team?

ELISA, PCR, immunohistochemistry and cell-based or study-specific assays. We agree on the method, sample requirements, controls, readiness work and deliverables for each project.

What are in-life study services?

In-life work is the portion of an animal study conducted while the animals are alive. It can include treatment administration, observations, functional testing and serial sample collection, according to the approved protocol.

Do I need a full protocol before contacting you?

No. Start with the hypothesis, planned model or samples, intended endpoints and timing. We can help develop the practical study scope.

How do I compare quotes for a study?

Compare equivalent models, readiness activities, quantities, procedures, sample analysis and reporting. MuriPhys discusses feasibility and cost before agreeing the written scope. Our study-delivery page explains the factors.

Can my team use shared research facilities?

MuriPhys combines shared bench and vivarium space in Durham with in vivo and in vitro equipment. Your researchers can carry out the work, add MuriPhys researchers for capacity or specialist expertise, or ask us to execute an agreed workstream. Access, equipment, staff support and terms are agreed individually.

Can selected startups receive an initial study at cost?

For selected startups, MuriPhys can offer an initial in vivo proof-of-concept study at cost. Opportunities are reviewed individually and scope and terms are agreed before work begins.

How can I share capabilities with a colleague?

Save relevant capabilities to the study brief. Share the link or print the summary with its research evidence and scope checklist.

What happens when I submit an inquiry?

Your inquiry is saved for review by the authorized MuriPhys team. A successful submission shows a reference number. Start with a nonconfidential summary.

How does MuriPhys approach NAMs and the 3Rs?

We are working to integrate new approach methodologies (NAMs), including suitable human cell-based methods, with appropriate animal models. MuriPhys adheres to Replacement, Reduction and Refinement. We consider alternatives, justify animal use and study size, and refine care and procedures for welfare and scientific rigor.
