The 3Rs guide our animal research.

MuriPhys adheres to Replacement, Reduction and Refinement. We consider NAMs and other alternatives during planning, justify animal use and study size, and refine care and procedures to protect welfare and scientific quality.

Our approach to NAMs and the 3Rs

Design the whole study before it starts.

Reliable in vivo work begins with the question the study needs to answer. We work with your team to align the model, treatment groups, administration route, observation schedule, sample collection and analysis plan.

Our scientists coordinate the in-life work and its downstream readouts so that the samples and data collected support the intended interpretation.

In-life capabilities

  • Mouse and rat study planning, acclimation and husbandry.
  • Single-dose and repeat-dose administration using study-appropriate routes.
  • Clinical observations, body weights and protocol-defined monitoring.
  • Longitudinal behavioral, functional and disease-specific assessments.
  • Serial blood and other biological sample collection.
  • PK/PD, dose-response, tolerability, biodistribution and efficacy study support.
  • Terminal necropsy, tissue collection, dissection and microdissection.
  • Coordinated tissue assays, bioanalysis and scientific reporting.

Administration routes and delivery systems

Systemic routes include intravenous, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous and oral administration. CNS programs can incorporate intraparenchymal, intracerebroventricular, intrathecal and cisterna magna delivery, with stereotaxic targeting, cannula or osmotic-pump approaches where appropriate.

Explore CNS delivery methods and pharmacokinetic study support.

Connect functional and tissue endpoints

Combine in-life observations with behavioral assays, electrophysiology, ocular assessments and tissue analysis. Sampling schedules and analytical methods are selected together to support the study objective.

What we agree before work begins

  • The model, animal numbers, groups and study schedule.
  • Test article, formulation, dose, route and administration frequency.
  • Monitoring, welfare provisions, sampling and endpoint criteria.
  • Data outputs, analysis responsibilities and report format.

Animal studies are planned through the applicable institutional animal care and use process. The research question and protocol determine the final procedures.
